Toronto Experiences Quick Shot of Flooding Rain

On Tuesday night an area of heavy showers moved slowly southeast across the City of Toronto.

Some parts of the City saw significant rainfall amounts.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says that according to weather radar, the heaviest rain extended from North York near Highway 400 and 401 to near Allen Road then south across downtown Toronto to Toronto Island. Weather radar measurements show a 50 to 75 mm rainfall in 2 to 3 hours across this area. 

The rain was very localized, some parts of the City received much less than 20 mm of rain

  • Toronto City 57.9 mm
  • Billy Bishop Airport 72.0 mm
  • Brickworks 21.2 mm
  • Mississauga Works Yard 22.0 mm
  • Toronto Pearson Airport 6.0 mm
  • Buttonville Airport 2.4 mm
