Time Lapse Shot of Lightning Strikes on Ground
On Sunday there is a risk of severe thunderstorms across Alberta as an upper level low continues to spin over the northern tier of the province.

A trough from Hinton to a low near Lethbridge will likely cause thunderstorms to develop in the   afternoon with the potential for severe weather into the evening.

Over southeastern Alberta and the southern Foothills, the primary threats include large hail up to 6 cm, and heavy rainfall over 50 mm.

A cold front will also swing through in the evening bringing daily highs from the mid 20's to the high single digits in some areas.

Thunderstorms will persist into Monday morning.
