Thousands Without Power in Southern B.C.

There are thousands in southern British Columbia without power this morning as a powerful area of low pressure pushed through.

Heavy snow and powerful winds lashed the area overnight and into this morning.

As of 6:30 am local time there were 58 outages impacting  26,074 customers.

The snow in southern British Columbia will taper off as the day progresses.

A snowfall warning remains in effect for East Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm possible.

There are wind warnings in effect for Central Coast - coastal sections, Greater Victoria, Howe Sound, and Southern Gulf Islands. Winds are expected to gust to 80 km/h.
