The City of Jakarta is is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. The City of 9,607,787 is sinking.

The Indonesian capital is sinking up to 17 cm per year, which, coupled with the rising of sea level, has made the city more prone to flooding.

It is not only the sea level but thirteen rivers flow through Jakarta.

All these rivers, combined with the wet season rains and insufficient drainage due to clogging, make Jakarta prone to flooding.

The sinking is worse in the northern coastal areas.
