Scientists say that a new thermal area has been forming in Yellowstone National Park for the last 20 years.

Infrared images of the existing Tern Lake thermal area showed that the area is growing.

It doesn't mean that a volcano eruption is likely.

Scientists say that it is normal for the thermal area to grow.

Yellowstone is home to roughly 10,000 thermal areas.

The geothermal areas of Yellowstone include several geyser basins in Yellowstone National Park as well as other geothermal features such as hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles.
