For the next 14 days, we will highlight a Canadian Battle in honor of Remembrance Day.

Today the War of 1812.

The War of 1812 started on June 18, 1812, and ended on February 18, 1815.

It was fought between the United States of America and the United Kingdom, its North American colonies (now Canada), and its Native American allies.

On the United Kingdom side, 1,160 were killed in action, 3,679 were wounded, and 3,321 died from a disease.

American casualties and losses were much larger with 2,200 killed in action, 4,505 wounded, and an estimated 15,000 died from all causes.

The result was a military stalemate. Status quo ante bellum with no boundary changes, American invasions of Canada repulsed, British invasions of United States repulsed, and Defeat of Tecumseh's Confederacy.
