The Stigma of Being a Female Meteorologist

Did you see what she is wearing? Or that outfit doesn't suit her!

Ever hear someone say that? Probably.

Did you see what he is wearing? Or that outfit doesn't suit him!

Ever hear someone say that? Probably not.

The sad reality is that female meteorologists and hosts alike regularly face the wrath of viewers who feel it is their  
duty to point out any flaw they see.

Another thing that happens a lot is referring to female meteorologists as "weather girls." It takes at least four year to become a meteorologist. Females can also be meteorologists.

Karl Stefanovic, an Australian TV presenter has said he wore the same blue suit on-screen for 12 months and nobody noticed. He did it to make a point about the sexism he said his female colleagues faced. "No-one has noticed," he said. "But women, they wear the wrong colour and they get pulled up.
