The Plastic Bag Ban

Posted by on Tuesday, October 18, 2016

There is a growing movement in Canada to ban plastic bags.

In March 2007, the small town of Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, became the first community in North America to ban bags.

In an early 2004 a study found that 92% of Canadians stated that they reuse and recycle their plastic shopping bags.
Another study conducted in 2008 found that 60% of Canadians said that if given the choice, they would rather have some food packaging recycled in the blue bin, than banned.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Thompson, Quebec, Brossard, Deux-Montagnes, and Huntingdon have all banned plastic bags as well.
