Posted by on Tuesday, October 11, 2016

It was on this date in 1875 that a major storm lashed parts of Nova Scotia.

On Cape Breton Island the several roads and bridges were swept away. Also, thousands of dollars worth of logs were swept away.

The crew from 3 wrecked ships arrived in Sydney in poor condition, the heavy rains flooded the town's Public Gardens and washed away some of the embankment of the new Railway extension.
