The Next Newfoundland Storm May be a Miss

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, January 12, 2019

The good news is that there are no storms on the horizon for Newfoundland in the short term.

Looking ahead, there is a possibility that we may see a system on Tuesday for the eastern half of the Island.

May... that is because there is the possibility that the storm could veer off into the Atlantic and have little to no impact.

The Canadian and European model are both in agreement bringing the storm onshore. From St. John's, perhaps as far west as Gander.

The United States GFS model takes the storm more eastward, meaning less of an impact on Newfoundland, but still brings snow to the Avalon.

Right now, it appears as though precipitation will be in the form of snow should there be an impact.

We are still several days out and just a slight shift in the track could mean a big difference. Keep checking back to Wx Centre and don't forget to join our mailing list
