Water tests have caused a man-made pond near Regina to shut down.

The Sherwood Forest swimming area, located about 20 km northwest of Regina, has been closed after tests showed the pond was contaminated with E. coli.

Four people were affected by the E. coli that is present in the pond. The first case dates all the way back to the beginning of July.

The only reason that the Health Department got involved is because they noticed a link the three cases.

There are several complications that can develop from an E. coli infection.

Common symptoms include severe stomach cramps and stomach tenderness, diarrhea, watery at first, but often becoming very bloody, and/or nausea and vomiting.
