Super typhoon Nepartak slams Taiwan

Two people have died and 66 people are injured as Super typhoon Nepartak slammed into Taiwan early Friday morning.

Nepartak made landfall about 15 kilometers south of the eastern city of Taitung.

Damage is extensive. Roofs were torn off buildings. Cars were flipped over. Rain caused extensice flooding.
The typhoon packed winds of up to 240 km/h.

Nepartak will depart Taiwan late Friday and advance toward eastern China on Saturday.

  • 15,224 people have been evacuated
  • Flights canceled at Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport.
