Strong Wind for Western Newfoundland and Snow for Labrador

An area of low pressure over Hudson Bay will move to be centered over northern Quebec this evening.

The low will cause some strong wind across the west coast of Newfoundland. There are wind warnings in effect for Bay St. George, Corner Brook and vicinity, Gros Morne, and Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay. Wind gusts to 100 km/h are expected to develop this evening.

There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Winds gusting to 100 km/h are forecast to develop in the Wreckhouse area this afternoon, then gust to 120 km/h this evening. 

Marine Atlantic says that the Port aux Basques to North Sydney crossing scheduled for 11:45 am this morning will now depart at 11:45 pm. The North Sydney to Port aux Basques crossing scheduled for 11:45 am will depart at 11:45 pm.

In Labrador, significant snowfall is possible today and tonight. Snow that is over western Labrador will move eastward today. 10 to 20 cm is possible today and tonight. Additionally, strong winds will cause reduced visibility and blowing snow.
