Strong Wind causes Flight Delays, Power Outages, and Damage

While western Newfoundland is getting pounded by snow, eastern portions of Newfoundland is contending with strong winds that is responsible for power outages, flight delays, and damage.

Throughout the morning Newfoundland Power were responding to several power outages across different portions of the Avalon.

At St. John's International Airport both Arrivals and Departures were impacted. At one point wind gusts at the airport reached 118 km/h.

At Memorial University ‏high winds have damaged siding panels on Field House. MUN is asking people to avoid Lambes Lane and Westerland area until winds subside.

There are reports of some on social media reporting minor damage.
