Strong Earthquake Strikes Vanuatu

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake has struck 30 km west-southwest of Port-Vila, Vanuatu.

It happened at 8:13 am near the epicenter at a depth of 21 kilometers.

There were reports of people running from buildings.

Seismologists said there were no immediate reports of any damage.

While the likelihood of casualties and damage is low there is an increased risk of landslides.

The area is vulnerable to strong earthquakes.
