Storm Forces Mandatory Evacuations in Southern California

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Several mandatory evacuations were issued in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties on Tuesday as a second storm hit the area on Monday.

The area was ravaged by massive wildfires late last year.

Southern California faces an extreme threat of mudslides and debris flows.

Officials closed several interstates and roads. In the higher elevations, heavy snow caused several vehicles to spin out.

Schools in Malibu were also closed.

Some mudslides have already been observed.
