A system that impacted Newfoundland yesterday is continuing to have an impact on the province today.

Strong winds are lashing the west coast of the province today with gusts to 100 km/h expected.

Another 10 mm of rain is expected on the Burin Peninsula. This heavy rain may cause localized flooding.

For coastal Labrador 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected before the snow tapers off this evening. Also wind gusts between 90 and 110 km/h will develop near noon and continue into this evening.

Several schools across the province are closed this morning.
