Several schools across the Avalon and Central Newfoundland were closed this morning after a storm pushed across the region.

Central is mostly seeing snow. There are snowfall warnings in effect in some areas with total amounts of 20 to 25 cm on the way.

Over the Burin and Bay de Verde Peninsula snow will change to ice pellets this morning.

On the Avalon Peninsula ice pellets will change to freezing rain this morning. Most areas are expected to receive 6 to 8 hours of freezing rain.

Precipitation will taper off for all areas this afternoon.
