Steamboat Geyser Erupts Again

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, May 5, 2018

The Steamboat Geyser at Yellowstone National Park has once again erupted.

This is the third time in two months. Experts say they have no reason to suspect an eruption of the supervolcano is imminent.

After an eruption, the geyser often vents large amounts of steam for up to 48 hours.

The geyser last erupted in September of 2014.

Steamboat Geyser is the world's tallest currently-active geyser. During major eruptions, water may be thrown more than 91 metres into the air.
