State of Emergency in Beauceville

Posted by on Friday, February 26, 2016

The City of Beauceville, Quebec has declared a state of emergency after flooding following a storm earlier this week.

Two-hundred people have been forced from 50 homes and businesses after streets were flooded and iced over in the city of over 6000 residents.

An ice jam caused the Chaudière River to overflow near the middle of the city. A number of schools are closed in the area and the town is closed to traffic.

Excavation work has begun along the Chaudière River to clear the jam.
