Snowfall Totals from Alberta

It may still be September but Alberta always defies the seasons.

There was a system that moved through western Canada over the last two days that brought the first widespread measured snowfall event to Alberta.

Snow began in northern Alberta on Tuesday night and quickly spread south and southeastward through Wednesday and into Thursday. 

Here is a summary of snowfall amounts received by Environment Canada:
  • Hendrickson Creek: 14 cm
  • Grande Prairie: 12 cm
  • Valleyview: 12 cm
  • Nordegg: 11 cm
  • Slave Lake: 10 cm
  • Rocky Mountain House: 9 cm
  • Exshaw: 10 cm
  • Camrose: 9 cm
  • Wetaskiwin: 5-8 cm
  • Horburg: 7 cm
  • Kananaskis: 7 cm
  • Edmonton: 6 cm
  • Lavoy: 5 cm
  • Banff: 4 cm
  • Jasper: 3 cm
