The calendar might still say early August, but for northern Alaska, the date doesn't mean snow isn't possible.

A weather system that is sitting over the Arctic will send cold air south with snowfall expected in the Brooks Range through Sunday evening.

Snow has developed over the central and eastern Brooks Range and has been falling since yesterday evening.

10 to 15 cm of snow is likely by late this evening.

Wind gusts up to 60 km/h will cause some blowing snow.
