Snow Squalls Expected Across West and South Coast of NL

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, January 31, 2019

Snow squalls are expected to develop across the west and south coast of Newfoundland this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow.

There is a snow squall watch in effect for Bay St. George, Burgeo - Ramea, Burin Peninsula, Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity, Connaigre, Corner Brook and vicinity, Deer Lake - Humber Valley, Gros Morne, Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay, and Port Saunders and the Straits.

From this afternoon to Friday night generally, 5 to 10 cm is likely along the west coast and about 2 to 5 cm along the south coast.

Amounts may be significantly higher should snow squalls develop.

Significantly reduced visibility in snow squalls is likely at times as temperatures drop and fresh snowfall combines with gusty southwesterly winds.
