Snow Squall Threat for Newfoundland

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, January 6, 2018

Newfoundland will likely be seeing some snow squalls this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued snow squall watches and warnings for the Island.

Over the course of the weekend and including Monday the west coast could see 10 to 15 cm of snow, some amounts could be higher in the heaviest snow squalls.

Elsewhere across the Island only a couple centimeters are likely.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably over a short distance.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings for Saturday and says that there could be disruptions on Sunday and Monday also.
