Snow, Mixed Precip, and Rain Across NL Starting This Afternoon

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Snow will begin over western Newfoundland this afternoon and push eastward across the province.

Along the southwest coast, snow will very quickly change to ice pellets or freezing rain. An extended period of freezing rain is possible in central Newfoundland.

All areas, with the exception of the Great Northern Peninsula, will change over to snow by Wednesday morning.

Snowfall amounts are expected to be minimal with only about 3 to 7 cm expected. On the Great Northern Peninsula, snowfall amounts may reach 15 cm.

Rainfall amounts will be heaviest along the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas. 15 to 30 mm or rain is possible in those areas.
