Some areas of the southern and southeastern United States have recorded snow for the first time in years.

The snow has tapered off for most areas in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, east Tennessee and upstate South Carolina.

On Thursday snow fell in portions of western Texas, east into the Texas Big Bend and the Rio Grande Valley, including Laredo and Fort Stockton.

There were several photos of snow in the desert like this one...

Major cities like Austin, San Antonio, and Houston picked up about 1 to 2 inches of snow.

In College Station's Easterwood Field there was 5 inches of snow. There has never been any snow in December since record keeping began in 1951.
