Snow and Wind Halt Marine Atlantic

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, December 21, 2017

An area of low pressure just south of Labrador is bringing some snow squalls to the west coast this morning. This activity will continue throughout the day.

In the heaviest snow squalls some areas could pick up 15 to 25 cm of snow today.

Along the southwest coast there continues to be some gusty wind.

Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected by Friday morning in Labrador.

Marine Atlantic is also experiencing problems.

The crossing scheduled for this morning at 11:45 from Port aux Basques to North is now scheduled to depart at 11:45 pm. Also the North Sydney to Port aux Basques sailing scheduled for 11:45 am is now scheduled to depart at 11:45 pm.
