Snow and A Soaker for Atlantic Canada This Week

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Monday, March 12, 2018

An area of low pressure will move off the east coast of the United States on Monday night and rapidly intensify as it progresses toward the north.

Snow is expected to begin in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick on Tuesday evening, before changing over to a rain-snow mix and eventually rain for most of Nova Scotia, eastern New Brunswick and eventually Prince Edward Island.

Before dawn on Wednesday, snow will spread across Newfoundland. Snow will become mixed with rain and eventually change to rain across the Avalon, the south coast, and eventually Central and Western Newfoundland by Wednesday evening. The Northern Peninsula will likely remain as snow.

Labrador will begin to see some snow activity on Wednesday evening and into the overnight hours.

A secondary low could bring heavy rain to portions of Newfoundland on Thursday as well.

We will see gusty wind Wednesday and Thursday.
