Smoky Western Skies

Posted by on Monday, August 24, 2015

The fires in Washington state are causing problems here in Canada as well.

There are special air quality statements in effect for parts of Southern British Columbia, Southern Alberta, and Southern Saskatchewan as heavy plumes of smoke move northwards from the large wildfires burning in Washington state.
There are high concentrations of fine particulates combined with poor air quality.

While this episode is expected to persist until a major shift in wind patterns and weather conditions, smoke concentrations will vary widely as winds, fire behavior and temperatures change.
