Severe weather rips through Indiana Friday night

A thunderstorm that passed through Indiana on Friday night produced a tornado over the state.

Scores of people were left wondering whether or not to seek shelter in Lafayette after a storm was rotation which cause the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for Tippacanoe County.

Nine thousand fans at a high school football game were told to leave or go inside the high school until it was safe to return. The fame was delayed by about 30 minutes.

A National Weather Service meteorologist says it was on the ground for about 17 minutes.

There are reports of damage, but no injuries.
