Winter storms in Europe have killed at least 21 people.

An avalanche hit a Swiss hotel sending three people to the hospital.

Meanwhile, some areas in Austria have been evacuated over fears that a large avalanche could occur.

In eastern and northern Europe most of the 21 deaths were due to avalanches.

Heavy snow caused a tree to fall and kill a seven-year-old boy in Germany. A 16-year-old was killed by an avalanche in Austria. Also killed by an avalanche was a 37-year-old in Slovakia.

Some people were also found frozen to death.
