The winter storm that is impacting the Maritime provinces today caused a mess in the United States.

It was the second nor'easter to hit the region in a week.

Newark Liberty International Airport was closed Wednesday afternoon. A ground stop was in place Wednesday afternoon at Philadelphia International Airport. 2,500 flights were cancelled.

It wasn't only flights but also Philadelphia's mass transit bus service was shut down.

Schools were closed in several cities ahead of the storm.

The Delaware Memorial Bridge was also closed.

As of Wednesday evening, more than 350,000 customers lacked electricity.

There was also one person injured by a lightning strike during a thundersnow event. Thundersnow is an unusual kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain.
