Santa Ana Winds Causing Power Outages

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Strong Santa Ana winds has caused power outages for 87,000 customers in California.

The winds have brought down trees and power lines.

High winds are in areas where there are wildfires, the strong winds can rapidly spread the fires.

The Santa Ana winds are strong, extremely dry down-slope winds that originate inland and affect coastal Southern California and northern Baja California. They originate from cool, dry high-pressure air masses in the Great Basin.
