Salmon Population Declining in Pacific Northwest

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, February 14, 2019

There is a new threat facing salmon in the Pacific Northwest.

Warming river temperatures are threatening the population.

Due to overfishing, the salmon population was already declining, however, the population is taking a harder hit.

Habitat loss and pollution have also been linked to their decline.

The higher water temperatures are killing adult salmon before they can reproduce.

Due to less snowfall, the size of rivers and streams are also shrinking.
