Russian Earthquake Prompts Tsunami Fears

A large earthquake struck 277.9 km east-southeast of Klyuchi, Russia on Thursday.

The magnitude 7.4 earthquake prompted fears of a tsunami, am alert was issued for a short time.

It was at a rather shallow depth of just 9 km.

There were no casualties or property damage.

After the initial quake, a magnitude 5.6 aftershock was also reported.
