RNC Issue Warning About Leaving Children and Dogs in Cars

Posted by on Saturday, July 15, 2017

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have received 16 calls about dogs left unattended inside of hot cars so far this month.

They even have had a call about a child left in a vehicle.

Media Relations Officer Cst. Geoff Higdon and Cst. Tanya Schwartz with Community Services did a little experiment.
Things got sweaty really fast.

Police don't leave your pets or your children in your car alone on a hot day. And for kids, don't leave them alone in your car ever.

While leaving vehicle windows open allows for fresh air to circulate, it may not always be sufficient depending on weather conditions.  Children should never be left unattended in a vehicle under any circumstances.

Should you observe a child or a pet inside an unattended vehicle without adequate air circulation please call the police.
