Remembering the 1974 Super Outbreak

Back on April 3 and April 4, 1974 the second-largest tornado outbreak occurred.

Tornadoes hit the Midwestern and Southern United States along with Ontario.

The 1974 Super Outbreak saw a confirmed 148 tornadoes. Of the 148 tornadoes, 30 were an F4 or F5. 

315 people were killed.

There was $4.5 billion (2018 USD) in damage.

It was also the most violent tornado outbreak ever recorded.

The only time there was a larger torndo outbreak was during the 2011 Super Outbreak.
