Remembering Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene  made landfall near Cape Lookout, NC as a Category 1 storm on August 27, 2011.

Hurricane Irene was a large and powerful Atlantic hurricane that left extensive flood and wind damage along its path through the Caribbean, the United States East Coast and as far north as Canada.

Over 300 mm of rain fell in parts of Eastern North Carolina.

Wind gust neared 180 km/h, tornadoes, and heavy storm surge as well.
