Posted by on Monday, December 7, 2015

The City of Beijing has issued its first red alert for smog. This means school closures and traffic restrictions.

A red alert is the most serious warning for smog.

Severe smog is expected to persist for at least three days.

Readings of PM2.5 particles climbed toward 300 micro-grams per cubic meter on Monday.
This is the second time this month that smog has plagued the city for an extended period of time.
