RCMP Arrest 5 for Arson in Williams Lake

RCMP has increased resources in areas subject to evacuations.

The RCMP in Williams Lake, British Columbia have arrested five male youths for allegedly attempting to light fires in the area on Tuesday.

Williams Lake was under an evacuation alert due to wildfires on July 8, 9 and 10. 

RCMP say they received a call from residents who saw plumes of smoke in the Lexington Road Subdivision area just after 5:40 a.m..

No charges have been laid at this time, however the investigation is ongoing.

The fires may be linked to a number of break and enters that happened in the subdivision.

Williams Lake is a city in the Central Interior of British Columbia.
