Rare Earthquake Near Antarctica

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 shook on Wednesday at 6:44 pm 2203.7 km southeast of Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, Saint Helena.

The earthquake was in the Atlantic Ocean near the Antarctic Circle. The area is not typically active.

It had a depth of 15 km.

There were no populated islands for hundreds of kilometers.
