Rain, Snow, and Wind for NL Monday Night

Posted by on Saturday, March 26, 2016

A low pressure system will advance toward Newfoundland from the Maritimes on Monday night.

Before dawn on Tuesday rain will spread across the Island with snow on the Northern Peninsula.

Although still a day or so away it appears as though the Northern Peninsula will receive 10 to 20 cm of snow. Parts of the west coast may receive 5 to 10 cm of snow. Rain will be the main threat across the remainder of the Island with 20 to 30 mm not out of the question.

Wind will be quite gusty as well with gusts to over 100 km/h possible.

On Tuesday night the low will move off shore, however wrap around snow will continue across the Northern Peninsula and west coast. Behind the low temperatures will be colder as well as the counterclockwise spin of the low will drive brisk northerly winds across the west coast.

Conditions greatly improve on Wednesday morning.
