Rain and Wind to Lash NL

There are both rainfall and wind warnings in effect for Western portions of the island of Newfoundland.

There are special weather statement's in effect for the Burin Peninsula, the Avalon, and North to the Bonavista Peninsula including Terra Nova.

This is all in association with and cold front which will sweep across the province tonight and Tuesday.

Rain is expected to develop overnight and will reach the Avalon by Tuesday morning.

The heaviest rainfall is expected along the west coast where rainfall amounts of 60 to 70 is possible.

Along portions of the west coast winds will gust to 100 km/h.

Rain will begin to taper off along the west coast by tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile on the east coast heavy rain is expected along with strong winds.

Some areas may receive up to 40 mm of rain in eastern Newfoundland by Tuesday afternoon.

Winds on the Avalon will gust to 80 km/h.
