A classic fall storm looks like it will deliver a dose of reality to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Around 6:00 pm on Friday rain will begin across western Labrador, the rain will quickly become mixed with snow over western and northern Labrador overnight Friday. Strong winds are also likely with gusts to 100 km/h or more possible.

Rain will begin in Newfoundland prior to dawn on Saturday on the West Coast. The rain will make its way to central around 9 am and to the Avalon around by late afternoon. Wind gusts across Newfoundland will be around 90 km/h with higher gusts in some areas.

We will provide a precipitation forecast later today, however this storm could result in significant amounts of rainfall, especially for western Newfoundland and southern Labrador.

Keep checking back for updates.
