Rain and Snow for Newfoundland

Snow will being over the southwest coast of Newfoundland this morning.

All areas of Newfoundland will be seeing snow by mid-afternoon.

Most of Newfoundland will see a transition to rain. The exception will be on the Great Northern Peninsula where precipitation will remain as snow.

The Great Northern Peninsula will see the most snow with total accumulation of 15 to 20 cm possible.
The remainder of the Island will see anywhere from 5 to 10 cm.

Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 mm are expected across the south coast with lesser amounts to the north.

Winds will be gusty as well, especially in the Wreckhouse area.

Marine Atlantic says that the Port aux Basques to North Sydney run scheduled for Tuesday, December 27 at 11:45 am is now scheduled to depart at 11:45 pm weather permitting. Also the North Sydney to Port aux Basques run scheduled for Tuesday, December 27 at 12:30 pm is now scheduled to depart Tuesday, December 27 at 11:45 pm weather permitting.
