Environment Canada will be installing new radars across Canada at a cost of $83 million to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts across the country.

The first new radar will be installed near Radisson, Saskatchewan.

It will be replaced with radar that allows for greater accuracy and more timely information. The new radars will also have double the range of old radars.

Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of precipitations.
