Powerful Earthquake Strikes Popular Travel Destination

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck 0.3 km south-southeast of Bodrum, Turkey Thursday evening.

It was a shallow earthquake at a depth of just 10 kilometers.

The area is a popular with tourists.

Some damage was reported and hotel guests were evacuated. There are some minor injuries.

There was no tsunami but some flooding was reported.

It had initially been estimated that the quake had reached a magnitude of 6.9, but the USGS downgraded its original calculation.
