A power outage at Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport stranded thousands of travelers on Sunday.

The power outage happened due to a fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

All seven terminals were left in darkness.

More than 1,000 flights were impacted and in some cases passengers were stuck on the tarmac for hours.

It could be days before things are back on schedule.

Hartsfield–Jackson held its ranking as the world's busiest airport in 2012, both in passengers and number of flights, by accommodating 100 million passengers (more than 260,000 passengers daily) and 950,119 flights.
