Comet Tempel 1
Astronomers have discovered what they say may be an "interstellar" asteroid.

An interstellar object is a body other than a star or substar located in interstellar space, and not gravitationally bound to a star.

The object is orbiting backward around the Sun.

The three-kilometer-wide object is near Jupiter.

If the status is confirmed a spacecraft could visit the object.
