Plunging Temperatures and Blizzard Conditions Across Atlantic Canada

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, November 22, 2018

A cold Arctic air-mass will cause temperatures to drop across Atlantic Canada today, tonight, and Friday.

The cold air will be accompanied by strong wind and snow.

Snow squalls and strong wind is expected on Cape Breton Island. Winds will gust to 100 km/h at times.

Widespread blowing snow is expected across Prince Edward Island.

There is a blizzard warning in effect for the west coast of Newfoundland. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm can be expected by Friday evening combined with wind gusts to 90 km/h giving whiteout conditions.

In Labrador, heavy snow and strong winds will produce blizzard conditions with near zero visibilities in blowing snow on Friday. Snowfall accumulations of 15 cm are currently forecast by Friday afternoon.
